About Vestman Mastering

History

Vestman Mastering was founded in 1995 by John Vestman.  After 20 years as a recording engineer, producer and studio owner, John Vestman took the advice of his clients and added mastering to his services.

Very quickly mastering became to sole focus of John’s passion. In 1997, with the mastering business rapidly growing, John had our current dedicated mastering facility built precisely to his specifications.

All of our gear, both analog and digital, is top-of-the-line and many pieces have been expertly customized to our exacting specifications.

The rapid expansion of DAW recording in the music industry resulted in our creating the Separation Mastering process in 2005.

Featured in a 2006 EQ Magazine article, artists and engineers alike quickly grasped the benefits and distinguished results that Separation Mastering provides.

Location

Vestman Mastering is located in the heart of Southern California, about 30 miles south of Hollywood in Orange County (The "OC").

For domestic or overseas clients flying in to attend their mastering session and who have never been to the Los Angeles area, we recommend staying a few extra days to enjoy the many attractions located nearby.

Listening to a copy of your finished master on a sunny California beach is a great way for you to finish an album project.

For those who are not able to attend their mastering session in person, it is an easy process to either send us your project on disc or upload it.

To make it even more convenient, we have implemented a custom FTP file upload and download capability on this web site.

Capabilites

For years we have worked with clients literally from around the world encompassing an amazing variety of musical genres from many cultures.

From US Rock, Jazz, R&B and Blues to German Industrial Metal to Middle-Eastern Electronic Dance to Vietnamese Pop; if you've heard it or play it we've mastered similar albums for very enthusiastic clients.

Every project is unique in very special ways and we work with you, from initial consultation through finished master to ensure your music matches the professional presentation you’re hearing in your head.

No matter where you live on this planet, we are available to take your music to the highest sonic level and put our experience to work for you.

If you've ever had someone mangle your mix with a multi-band box or plug-in, you'll intuitively see how Separation Mastering overcomes the sources of compromise that can occur in traditional mastering.

Old-schoolers may grumble at change, but they can't say it doesn't sound better!  See for yourself the difference this new technology makes.

Philosophy

At Vestman Mastering we understand that great gear, "ears and years" of experience, accurate monitors and an acoustically tuned studio are all critical to professional mastering.

We also know that the real key is customer service and communication. We pride ourselves in being able to work with clients to get the sound they’re after.

We do not believe mastering should be an elitist, secretive, snobby process where you end up with the sound a mastering engineer decides to give you.

We believe that YOUR music, YOUR sound is what is most important and we look forward to working with you to get it and give it the final polish it deserves.

We stand behind our work and will make sure it is right… according to you!
